I’m Mary Benton, and after years of working as a financial planner helping Aussies over 60 design their dream retirements, I’ve heard a common story: “Once I retire, I’m going to hit the road and explore Australia!” This dream of packing up the caravan and embarking on a journey across the country is a quintessential Aussie aspiration that has inspired many—and now, it has inspired me too. I’ve decided to join the adventure and experience the thrill of outback travel for myself.

Why I Started Outstyler
After years of helping retirees create financial plans that allow them to live their travel dreams, I realised something—these stories are too good not to share. I’m a chronic ‘sharer’ of information, and I couldn’t resist creating a space where like-minded Aussies can come together, swap stories, and plan their own road trips. Outstyler isn’t just about me (though I’ll be sharing my own travel tips and experiences too!); it’s a community of travellers who are passionate about exploring Australia, one outback road and coastal campsite at a time.
I’m also in the midst of planning several road trips myself, and I can’t wait to hit the road, meet fellow travellers, and gather even more stories, tips, and hidden gems from those who have already blazed the trail.
